We use the Eureka Math (Engage NY) curriculum to provide a rigorous math education, including topics such as algebra, geometry, and data analysis. Students will strengthen their mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills.

Mathematics in High School forms a critical component of the American curriculum, developing logical reasoning, problem-solving abilities, and quantitative literacy. At the American School in Stockholm, the math program is designed to support a progression from foundational concepts to advanced mathematical thinking. Starting with Algebra and Geometry, students solidify their understanding of equations, functions, and spatial reasoning. As they progress, they explore more complex topics such as Algebra II, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus.

Each course emphasizes conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and real-world application. Students work on challenging problems that encourage multiple approaches and solutions, promoting perseverance and creativity in problem-solving. Technology, including graphing calculators and online math tools, is integrated to enhance learning and develop digital competencies.

Teachers provide differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all learners, ensuring both support and enrichment opportunities. Group projects, mathematical modeling, and data analysis are used to connect mathematics with science, economics, and daily life. The ultimate goal is to foster confidence and independence in students as they learn to apply mathematical reasoning in diverse contexts. Whether they pursue STEM fields or humanities, a strong math foundation enables students to navigate an increasingly data-driven and interconnected world.
